Inostrancevia portraits by Xiphactinus Inostrancevia portraits by Xiphactinus
So, after a whole week of my absence due to illness and lack of Internet, I post another picture. Finished it long ago, but for the above reasons, the spread is still not bothered.

So, these are two species of giant gorgonopsid, Inostrancevia. I decided first to show the differences between these animals, and secondly, my gallery just needed to work on these magnificent creatures. After all, Inostrancevia is one of my favorite extinct animals)

Note that I didn't plan to draw them in comparison, it just so happens that a printed skull of Inostrancevia alexandri used in the work was considerably less than the skull of second species. Although, they actually were of different sizes: I. latifrons had a skull length of nearly 60 cm, a few inches larger than the skull of type species. Also note that the skin of both animals is the subject of speculation, but I don't think that the presence of a vibrissa and the rare wool on gorgonopsians is something impossible

Black pencil, black and white gel ink pens, 2016.

Ильдар, кожа получилась отменной. Отличная реконструкция.

Спасибо! Это сочетание амфибийных и маммальных признаков. Хотя, не думаю, что это окончательная версия того, какой я её (иностранцевию) вижу.

Such fascinating creatures!

You know, they found trace imprints of fur in fossilized synapsid dung. This shows they may have had fur!

I agree!

Yeah, I heard about it. This coat could belong to therocephalian, and the number of hair indicates a large size of the animal. With regards to gorgonopsians, they are no known prints of the skin, but I think that even sphenacodontian pelycosaurs had primary hairs near the muzzle and maybe the top body.
